“Living, being in the world, was a much greater and stranger thing than she had ever dreamed.”
― Ursula K. Le Guin
Older Children, Teens, and Young Adults
Supporting young people in their growth, hardship and development is one of the greatest joys of my work. Before returning to school to become a therapist, I worked supporting youth activists in their leadership development, in outdoor education for youth with disabilities, and teaching healthy relationship workshops in public schools. As a therapist, my style is warm and relational, and I aim to create a safe space to explore all that is difficult, confusing and overwhelming. I also foster a strength based approach, highlighting resources, strengths, and building on what is going well. Family sessions are encouraged when needed, as supporting the family is integral part of youth wellness.
Transgender, Genderqueer, Non-Binary and Gender Expansive Youth
Discovering who were are and becoming more of ourselves is a normal and beautiful part of growing up, Sometimes on this path of discovery we find out or suspect that our gender, a core part of who we are in the world, does not match up with the expectations assigned to our biological sex. In therapy I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and expansive space to explore gender, sexual orientation, and the unique essence contained within all of our beings. I have over a decade personal and professional experience working in LGBTQ2I community, and am well versed in the medical and non medical paths that we choose in order to live our authentic gender in the world. Family and loved ones often play a big role in gender transitions, and I am passionate about supporting their process as well. I provide skype therapy for youth not able to access my office in Berkeley, CA.
